The Elora Rocks Hockey Club Interest-Free Loan
The Elora Rocks Hockey Club (the club) has existed for over 100 years. This community organization has a long history with many successes along the way. However, the club has experienced some financial difficulties financially through recent years.  The Elora Rocks Hockey Club management team has shared with staff they continue to struggle to pay ice rentals annually each season and asked Council to forgive the current balance of the Elora Rocks Hockey Club interest-free loan of $25,149.20.

Council deferred consideration of the current agreement with the Elora Rocks Hockey Club to staff, to outline additional options related to restructuring of the debt with the report to be brought back to Council at the June 10^th meeting.

RFP#21-24 Short Term Rental Accommodation
Council awarded Request for Proposal (RFP) #21-24 regarding Short Term Accommodations/Rentals to Maclaren Municipal Consulting Inc.  The purpose of the RFP was to select a consultant to complete the required consultation and other activities required to support the development of a Licensing bylaw framework to address the regulation of short-term rental accommodation in the Township.

Spring 2024 Red Tape Reduction Package & Draft Provincial Planning Statement
Council authorized the Managing Director of Planning and Development to submit Township comments regarding the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing's Spring 2024 Red Tape Reduction Package and Draft Provincial Planning Statement.  On April 11, 2024, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing advised municipalities that the government had introduced the "Spring 2024 Red Tape Reduction Package" as part of its ongoing commitment to build at least 1.5 million homes by 2031. This initiative includes a series of proposed legislative, regulatory and policy changes including Bill 185, the proposed Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024.

Township staff review has focused on Bill 185's modifications to the Planning Act and the Development Charges Act. In addition, staff have completed a review of the draft 2024 Provincial Planning Statement (PPS).
