CENTRE WELLINGTON – Enhancing the Elora Greenspace: Two Trees to Be Removed for Long-Term Health and Safety Improvements

As part of ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance the natural beauty and safety of Elora Greenspace, the Township will be removing two Norway Maple trees beginning Monday, April 14, 2025.

Following a detailed arborist assessment and in alignment with the Green Space Donation for Improvements Agreement presented in September 2024, the two trees have been identified as being in declining health, posing a potential safety risk in this high-use public area. In addition to the health concerns, the dense growth in this location is limiting the vitality of nearby trees.

While the decision to remove mature trees is never taken lightly, this step is necessary to support the long-term health and sustainability of the greenspace. The removal will allow the three surrounding trees to thrive with better access to light, nutrients, and space, ensuring a stronger, healthier urban forest for years to come.

This work is being carried out as part of the Township’s Urban Forestry Program, with funding allocated through the program’s dedicated budget.
