The Township acknowledges Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for their investment in Centre Wellington

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Last night, during the Key Township Open House, with over 120 residents present, the Township acknowledged the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for its ongoing investment in the Township of Centre Wellington through the Municipality Contribution Agreement.  For the 2023-24 fiscal year, the Township received $2,969,050.  Since the gaming site opened in December 2003, Centre Wellington has received a total of $42,091,636.

“Today, we express our gratitude to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for their vital investment in Centre Wellington,” said Mayor Watters.  “This support not only fuels vital community initiatives but also empowers us to enhance the quality of life for our residents, fostering a vibrant future for our residents. These essential revenue payments have a significant effect on our community.”  

The Township reinvests the revenues into the community to support local programs, initiatives, arts and culture, and infrastructure.   2023 projects made possible by OLG contributions were showcased at the Key Township Open House:

  • Beatty Line Rehabilitation – SR18 to SR15
  • Traffic Calming Measures
  • Pavement Management – Argyll St. to Belsyde Ave to McAlister St.
  • Pavement management – North Queen St. to Colborne St. to Moir St.
  • East Mill Street
  • Trunk Storm – Moir St. to the Gorge
  • Rennie Blvd Cul-de-Sac Drainage Improvements
  • Dickson Drive Employment Land Servicing – Phase 1

In 2023, Council approved $108,000 from OLG funding and $65,000 from taxation for a total of $173,000 for Community Impact Grants.  Community Grants are crucial for local organizations to support community development, long-term sustainability, and enhances the services/programming/offerings from the organization receiving the funding.  Overall, Community Grants play a vital role in fostering a resilient and thriving community.  Over 34 Community Grants were awarded.  For a complete list of grant recipients, please visit www.centrewellington.ca/grants.
